Physiotherapy is a health care profession that assists person with compromised physical function due to any number of causes, including injury, disease and aging.

Physiotherapists are highly trained medical professionals who specific training in restoring movement and physical function of their clients, through various manual therapies, mechanical/electric devices and therapeutic exercise. A significant part of a Physiotherapist’s job involves educating their patients in order to prevent further injury and properly perform home exercises.

Persons accessing Physiotherapy at any Panther Sports Medicine facility can expect to receive state-of-the-art care, and can rest assured that focus of their treatment will be the improvement of their overall health.


There are many ways to access funding options when seeking treatment at our centres.

Extended health benefit plans

Physiotherapy treatment is usually covered in health benefit plans. Check your plan for coverage details and if your insurer requires a doctor referral for reimbursement. Depending on your insurance company, you may even have access to direct billing.

Initial Visit Includes Assessment and Treatment

Panther Physiotherapists will assess you using detailed history-taking as well as specific physical tests and measures, such as flexibility or range of motion. The therapist will then analyze the assessment findings and use clinical reasoning to establish a diagnosis and an individualized treatment plan.

Followup Treatments

Our Physiotherapists will use various techniques to treat you such as manual therapy, acupuncture, intramuscular stimulation, electrotherapy, exercise prescription, muscle activation techniques.Our patients can expect to improve their balance, stamina, force and coordination, which will help them to remain active in their daily life.

Alberta Health Services Funding

If you have had surgery, a fracture or are low income you may qualify for an assessment and 6 free Physiotherapy treatments. Contact our clinics for more information.

Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) coverage

If you are injured at work, WCB will normally approve up to 21 treatment visits over six weeks. WCB pays for the first visit and after reports are submitted they will notify us if you claim has been accepted. Contact our clinics for more information.

Automobile insurance

If you have been injured in a car accident seek treatment within 10 days of your accident. Your insurance company will normally pre-approve up to 21 treatment visits over a 12 week period. You can consult a licensed physiotherapist directly and you do not need a physician referral.

Veteran’s Affairs, Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP

If you are a veteran or currently serving with the Armed Forces or the RCMP, you may have access to funding for therapy services through your government benefits. Contact Panther Sports and your health coordinator for more information.
