Shockwave therapy is a modality used to treat common chronic conditions in the musculoskeletal system by accelerating the body’s ability to heal itself. During Shockwave therapy, audible high-energy sound waves are delivered to the damaged tissue.  This leads to beneficial effects of neurovascular growth, pro-inflammatory response to increase healing time, stimulating collagen growth and disintegration of calcium buildup.

The biological changes generated by Shockwave Therapy allow us to treat chronic conditions that have not responded to other therapies. These conditions include: Plantar Fasciitis, Heel Spurs, Medial and Lateral Epicondylitis (Golfer’s and Tennis Elbow), Rotator Cuff calcifications, Rotator Cuff Tendonitis, Sub Acromial bursitis, Achilles Tendinopathy, Patellar Tendonitis, Trochanteric Bursitis.

Here at Panther Sports Medicine we use the Swiss Dolorclast Master with the EVO BLUE hand piece. This machine provides consistent Energy Flux Density output throughout the entire spectrum of frequency. This means we are able to deliver a higher energy compared to other machines on the market. Treatment is performed by a registered Physiotherapist, so extended health care benefits under Physiotherapy can be used. Depending on your insurance company, you may even have access to direct billing.

Patients often require 3-5 treatments spaced 7-10 days apart in order to maximize benefits of your treatment. After your treatment sessions are complete the injured area will continue to heal up to 3 months after the last session.
