Shockwave therapy is a modality used to treat common chronic conditions in the musculoskeletal
system by accelerating the body’s ability to heal itself. During Shockwave therapy, high-energy acoustic
waves are delivered to the damaged tissue. This has a mechanical effect which leads to beneficial
effects of neurovascular growth, pro-inflammatory response to increase healing time, stimulating
collagen growth and disintegration of calcium buildup.

The biological changes generated by Shockwave Therapy allow us to treat chronic conditions that have
not responded to other therapies. These conditions include: Plantar Fasciitis, Heel Spurs, Medial and
Lateral Epicondylitis (Golfer’s and Tennis Elbow), Rotator Cuff calcifications, Rotator Cuff Tendonitis, Sub
Acromial bursitis, Achilles Tendinopathy, Patellar Tendonitis (Patellar Tip Syndrom), Trochanteric
Bursitis, Shin splints.

Here at Panther Sports Medicine we are pleased to offer Shockwave treatments with the Storz Medical
Masterplus 200®. The Shockwaves genorated in the MP200® are genorated with precision balistic
mechanism in the handpeice to genorate kinetic energy. The kinetic energy is converted into sound
waves, and this acoustic pulse is transmitted into radial pressure waves when applied to the treatment
area. We are have the ability to suplament the radial shockwave treatment with the MP200® plus
VACU-ACTOR to treat soft tissue by means if a suctioncup in pulsating vibrations. Treatment is
performed by a registered Physiotherapist, so extended health care benefits under Physiotherapy can
be used. Depending on your insurance company, you may even have access to direct billing.

Patients often require 3-6 treatments spaced 7-10 days apart in order to maximize benefits of your
treatment. After your treatment sessions are complete the injured area will continue to heal up to 3
months after the last session.
